Engel innovations win Johnson Controls recognition


Engel's Dolphin process for two-component injection molding, among other technologies, earned the company a 2011 European Supplier Leadership Award from Tier One automotive supplier Johnson Controls. The Dolphin process, which is a technique for multiple layer foam part manufacturing, was cited as an example of innovative technology Engel has supplied to Johnson Controls, in addition to integrated system solutions featuring its molding and automation offerings.

"Engel system solutions and technologies reduce the weight of our products, help us make big savings in production and significantly boost sustainability and efficiency," said Tobias Kickenweitz, purchasing manager (molds and systems) at Johnson Controls Automotive Experience.

Dolphin, which was initally launched by Engel at a 2006 in-house symposium, was shown to the industry at large by Johnson Controls at the 2007 IAA show in Frankfurt, as part of a feasibility study....
