The joint venture, which will include a new precompounding plant to be constructed in Shanghai, is expected to be operational in the second half of 2011. Financial terms were not disclosed. According to DuPont, the joint venture combines its fluoroelastomer technology, global reach and Viton brand with Chenguang's integrated manufacturing position and strong China presence.
Furthermore, DuPont has begun production of ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) resins at its joint venture, Beijing Hua Mei Polymer Co. Ltd., in Beijing. The facility is DuPont's first operation to make EVA in China. The EVA products will be sold under the Elvax brand and will serve market segments such as packaging, adhesives, wire and cable, footwear, renewable energy and electronics.
