Dow presents polyurethane innovations at CPI conference 2013

The conference served as a platform for Dow to highlight its latest polyurethane solutions for a multitude of market segments, including coatings, adhesives, sealants and elastomers (CASE), automotive, construction, appliance, furniture and bedding markets. During the proceedings, the company launched its new Vorapel hydrophobic polyols. These polyols are said to offer resistance to a broad range of chemicals, low viscosity for processing and storage freedom and moisture resistance for good coating performance on electronic components, chemical tanks, secondary containment and infrastructure. Dow Polyurethanes attended the CPI conference along with Dow Building Solutions, Formulated Systems and Automotive Systems. Together, the company highlighted many innovations including: Coatings, adhesives, sealants and elastomer innovations Vorasil silane modified polymers for flexibility, water resistance and long-lasting adhesion.Voranol 223-060LM polyol is an alternative to polyols used for high-performance CASE applications, including PTMEG.Voranol 2000LM, 4000LM and 8000LM polyols for broad molecular weight range and low-monol content that benefits both the formulator and end-user. Energy efficiency innovations Voracor CR systems rigid foam insulation to help keep food and beverages fresh, tasty and healthy from the field to the table.Pascal retrofit rigid foam insulation enabling existing household refrigerator and freezer production line equipment to achieve the same performance attributes as traditional Building and construction innovations Froth-Pack insulation for preventing unwanted air infiltration, moisture, insects, dust and noise in a wide range of applications and industries.Great Stuff pestblock insulating foam sealant for blocking pests by sealing gaps, cracks and holes and creating a long-lasting, airtight and water-resistant barrier.Voramer industrial adhesives and binders for construction adhesives that bond effectively to diverse substrates such as wood, metal and gypsum. Transportation innovations Specflex polyurethane systems for all applications requiring a plush, padded look and feel, including armrests, consoles and steering wheels. Furniture and bedding innovations Voralux systems for moulded viscoelastic foams with a velvety feeling, excellent support and processing ease for furniture and bedding applications. "The opportunity for polyurethane materials to contribute to a more energy efficient, safer, and more comfortable world are tremendous,” said Chris Chrisafides, Dow Polyurethanes Commercial Director, North America. "It takes global reach, local service and a commitment to innovation to see and seize those opportunities. So the real key is connecting Dow science with customers who have their hands in the marketplace. The annual CPI conference brings that thinking and that collaboration together so we can grow our value in order to grow our business.”
