Shanghai, China-High load gear applications have traditionally turned to homopolymer grades of polyacetal (POM) resin. The latest copolymer offerings from Celanese (Dallas, TX), however, are said to offer sufficient mechanical properties for use in such applications.
Introduced at the K Show last October in Germany, glass-reinforced Hostaform XGC POM series is said to combine improved mechanical properties with a superior anisotropic shrinkage factor versus other glass fiber reinforced resins. It can potentially find application in conveyor belts, guide rails and gears, industrial fasteners, window lift plates, as well as gears and motor housings that are used in a variety of industry segments.
