Coperion secures majority stake in PELL-TEC

Product portfolio now extended to include pelletizing technology

With effect from January 1, 2012, Coperion GmbH has acquired a majority stake in PELL-TEC Pelletizing Technology GmbH, Niedernberg, Germany. Established over ten years ago, PELL-TEC supplies pelletizing systems to customers operating in the plastics processing and recycling industry. PELL-TEC's product portfolio covers the entire pelletizing process from melt discharge through to the ready-to-use pellets. The pelletizing systems are capable of output rates of up to 6,000 kg/hr and display the highest degree of flexibility, a feature that is absolutely indispensable in view of the enormous diversity of polymers and formulations for which they are used. With this majority stake in PELL-TEC, Coperion has taken a further consistent step in strengthening its competence as a systems supplier and is now also able to supply tailor-made pelletizing solutions for small and medium-sized extruders - as complete systems from just one supplier. Coperion and PELL-TEC have been successfully working together for a number of years.

"As a majority stakeholder in PELL-TEC Pelletizing Technology GmbH,” says Thomas Kehl, a member of the Executive Board of Coperion GmbH, "Coperion has taken a logical step towards substantiating the already successful business partnership between our two companies. In the future we shall work together with PELL-TEC on the further development of the existing range of strand pelletizing systems, our main objective being to extend the size range across all output requirements.”

"For PELL-TEC the decision to join forces with Coperion was certainly the right one to take,” says PELL-TEC's joint managing director Michael Schuler. "With Coperion's support we shall not only be able to develop new markets but also expand the service we can offer our customers - from planning and commissioning through to the after-sales supply of spare parts.”

Bernhard Stern, PELL-TEC's other joint managing director, envisages enormous development potential for PELL-TEC's pelletizing technology: "Under Coperion's umbrella we shall above all be able to continue developing our product range effectively and strategically. To this end we shall be able to benefit from Coperion's technological facilities and comprehensive engineering know-how.”
