Chinese composites giant to nearly double capacity

Plastic composites player China XD Plastics (Harbin, China) has broken ground on a 300,000 tonnes/year production and R&D project in Southwest China. When completed approximately two years from now, the plant will boost overall capacity at the composites giant to 690,000 tonnes/year.

The 3,230,000-square foot site in Nanchong City, Sichuan province, is strategically located within a distance of 500 km from the factories of automotive manufacturers such as First Automobile Group, Shanghai GM, Volvo, Changan Ford and Dongfeng. The region is also home to other companies in target industries that the Company has been pursuing, including China Southern Rail Corporation (CSR) and China Northern Rail Corporation (CNR) in the high-speed railway sector, and Xi'an Aircraft Industry (Group) Company, Chengdu Aircraft Industrial (Group) Company and Guizhou Aviation Industry (Group) Company in the aerospace sector.
