Guangzhou—The Chinaplas exhibition got off to a bang with Stanley Chu, chairman of Adsale, the company that organizes the show, saying that the first day of the event, May 17, pulled in a show-record 27,000 attendees. Despite forecasts of rain, the skies above Guangzhou stayed dry, so visitors to the massive show could soak up the exhibition's 2000+ exhibitors' displays in humid-but-manageable conditions.
PlasticsToday has been canvassing the show since the day before it opened, when senior editor Stephen Moore spent three hours chasing down lackadaisical stand builders to get our small stand outfitted. Once finally at the stand, under a desk, he also discovered a woman's purse, stolen from one of the employees of a neighboring stand, rifled and then left there. Just as at any trade show during the hectic stand build days, you need to stay on your toes here. Our own experiences have all been very welcome....
