Chinaplas day-two highlights: Ping-pong plastics diplomacy and more


Day two dawned on Chinaplas 2015 with the oppressive humidity typical of a May day in southern China. The floors were packed, as always, and the obligatory mid-afternoon downpour greeted show visitors but did nothing to cool the atmosphere inside the halls. The venue descended into its customary chaos come 5 PM, as visitors and exhibitors alike exited the Pazhou exhibition complex.

Anything but chaotic, however, was the show of precision table tennis by professional German player Timo Boll, who took on two young Chinese players aged 9 and 12 and duly dispatched them by scores of 11:2 and 11:3. Boll was playing in a VDMA-sponsored event to promote its Blue Competence sustainability initiative for processing machinery.
