CANADA: Nova's board approves full funding for Joffre polyethylene expansion
The expansion, referred to as the "R3 Project, includes a world-scale PE reactor that will add between 950-million to 1.1-billion lbs/year of linear low-density PE capacity. Ethylene feedstock will come from Nova's Joffre complex.
In announcing plans for this project in 2011, Nova said it was studying a Novapol technology linear low-density PE plant and an Advanced Sclairtech PE line.
"R3, once it is commissioned in the fall of 2015, will be the third reactor in our existing PE1 facility, Nova said, adding that this expansion will increase the site's overall PE capacity by approximately 40%.
PE1 currently has two identical production lines.
Ledcor Projects is lead contractor responsibilities for the construction of the main portion of the expansion.
