With its 2011 edition completed, organizers of the biennial Brasilplast event say the show is truly a global event now and can stand alongside Germany's K, China's Chinaplas, America's NPE, and Italy's Plast. Liliane Bortoluci, events director at Brasilplast's organizer Reed Exhibitions/Alcantara Machado told PlasticsToday that attendance and exhibitor figures would place the São Paulo show in a tie with NPE and ahead of Plast, trailing only the K and Chinaplas.
In a release, show organizers said Brasilplast 2011 (May 9-13; São Paulo) ultimately attracted 1390 exhibitors, 504 of which came from outside Brazil. Compared to 2009's event, which drew exhibitors from 30 countries, Brasilplast 2011 had companies from 36 countries exhibiting, with Turkey, Denmark, and Iran participating for the first time. The Turkish pavilion had 10 exhibitors, strong for a first showing, with the largest pavilion from the Italian's at 43 companies.
