Boots are a basic kind of shoe design and represent a specific type of footwear. In contrast to standard shoes, that only come up to below the ankle, boots are shoes with uppers (the official term used for the top part of the shoe to distinguish it from the sole) that go at least above the ankle. Boot uppers are, in turn, divided up approximately into the foot section and the tubular section (generally known as the “shaft”) that extends upwards from the foot section.
