Bayer MaterialScience: Nanotube grade offers improved dispersibility

Bayer MaterialScience (BMS, Leverkusen / Germany; www.bayerbms.com) has introduced the “Baytubes” C 70 P grade of carbon nanotubes (CNTs), which offers improved dispersibility, making it suitable for use in mechanically sensitive polymers. Additionally, economic advantages can result from the shorter times required to disperse the nanotube agglomerates in water and other low-viscosity liquids, Bayer said.

The company recently inaugurated its 200 t/y pilot plant for CNTs in Leverkusen. The grades were launched at the “Nanotech” trade show held in Tokyo / Japan from 17 to 19 February 2010.
