BKG Bruckmann & Kreyenborg Granuliertechnik GmbH, Muenster / Germany, recently signed a contract with Tianjin Dagu Chemical Co. Ltd., concerning the delivery of several underwater pelletizing systems for the production of Styrene Acrylonitrile (SAN).
BKG will supply complete pelletizing lines including the control systems. In a second pass, the pellets produced in these BKG lines will be processed into approx. 200,000 tons of ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) per year. To date, this project is the largest order ever for BKG in China. This enables BKG to continue to expand their presence in the market, with over 50 underwater pelletizing systems delivered to China since the mid 90’s in the field of extrusion as well as polymerisation. At first, mostly small lines for compounding and technical polymers were demanded. But now, the request for reactor lines has increased because more and more Chinese customers see the advantages of underwater pelletizing, especially when it comes to polymer production. And according to experts, this positive development will continue. The advantages of underwater pelletizing are quite clear: uniform, spherical pellets with a smooth surface and higher bulk density than strand pellets, a very clean, homogeneous product, small mechanical footprint and low energy costs, are only a few examples.
Besides the outstanding product quality, the favourable cost/performance ratio of BKG Underwater Pelletizing Systems was a crucial and determining factor in the successful outcome of the sales agreement.
