BASF (Ludwigshafen / Germany; www.basf.com) has announced several price increases for polyalcohols, to take effect immediately. In Europe, Africa and the Middle East, the group will charge an additional EUR 300/t for all neopentylglycol (NPG), trimethylolpropane (TMP) and hydroxic acid neopenylglycol ester (HPN), whereas 1,6 hexanediol (HDO) will cost EUR 145/t more. The NPG price in Asia will rise by USD 250/t whereas HPN and HDO will cost an additional USD 150/t in this region. In the Americas, the group will charge an additional USD 0.10/lb for all four polyalcohols.
BASF said the hike was tied to inadequate margins.
