It seems that 2013 was a good year for reshoring of manufacturing. As "Made in USA" labels become more ubiquitous thanks to a lot of media attention over the past year, it appears that's influencing people in corporate boardrooms.
Harry Moser just released the Reshoring Initiative Annual Activity and Accomplishment report for 2013, and the numbers reveal that reshoring is more than just a buzzword. Reshoring and offshoring are currently about "in balance," which means "the bleeding has stopped," said Moser's report. Over a 10-year period, new offshoring went from an estimated 150,000 manufacturing jobs/year in 2003 to an estimated 30,000 -50,000 manufacturing jobs/year, a 70% change.
