Andy Lehner, longtime leader in the moldmaking industry, passes away


Andrae (Andy) Lehner, co-founder and co-owner of Omega Tool Inc. (Menomonee Falls, WI), and president of that company for nearly 30 years until his retirement in 2006, passed away on Nov. 17, 2011. Andy was involved in the plastic injection molding, moldmaking and and engineering industries for his entire career. He joined Saller Tool Inc. in 1969 where he bought stock and became partners with John Weber Sr. In 1980, Saller Tool moved to Menomonee Falls, where the partners changed the company's name to Omega Tool Inc.

Lehner was actively involved in just about every industry organization including the Society of the Plastics Industry (SPI), where he served on the Moldmakers Policy Board for 25 years and on the SPI's National Board for eight years. He was awarded the SPI Moldmakers Division Lifetime Achievement Award and was a founding member of the American Mold Builders Association, helping form the second chapter (Milwaukee) of that organization. He also served as the AMBA's second National President from 1980-1981, and organized and ran the local NTMA apprenticeship contest for 13 straight years.
