Was he aware of the importance of his invention at the time when he went on the maiden voyage of the “Luftikus”? He did at any rate fail to link his name inextricably with the concept of the folding kayak and did not participate to anything like an appropriate extent in the success that folding kayaks enjoyed in the subsequent years and decades.
