Alcan Composites: Improved properties from structural PET foam

Alcan Composites (Sins / Switzerland; www.alcancomposites.com) has introduced the second generation of its "Airex” structural PET foam core material. "Airex T92” has been developed for use in a wide range of structural sandwich applications in wind turbine blades, trains, boats and industry.

The material's properties build on those of its T91 predecessor and result in a core material that the producer says is lighter, stronger and stiffer. It is claimed to offer improved damage tolerance with a shear elongation at break of 15% and is compatible with common resins and production processes up to 150 ºC.
