4 Years after MOU- BASF Polyurethanes breaks ground in Chongqing

The project involving staff from BASF and Chongqing Chemical and Pharmaceutical Holding (Group) Company (CCDHGC)involves sharing BASF's culture of safe, sustainable and responsible behaviour with suppliers, partners, customers, and the industrial community. With $1.2 billion coming from BASF SE, the project is expected to cost a total of $5.3 billion making it the largest investment in a petroleum and gas chemical project of any German company in central and western China.With the State-owned CCDHGC as its co-investor, the project is expected to realise an annual production value of 50 billion yuan ($7.64 billion) and generate 10 billion yuan in tax.Delegates and distinguished guests officiating the ceremony includes (from left to right): Mr. Yang Xueshan, China Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology; Mayor Huang Qifan, Mayor of Chongqing Municipal People's Government; Dr. Martin Brudermueller, Member of the Board of Directors of BASF SE, responsible for Asia Pacific; Ms. Zhou Ying, China Vice Minister of Water Resources; Mr. Chen Bin, Director of Industry Coordination Division, National Development and Reform Commission; Ms. Tong Xiaoping, Vice Mayor of Chongqing Municipal People's GovernmentWayne Smith, President of the Polyurethanes Division of BASF, and Albert Heuser, President, Asia Pacific, BASF, sign the investment agreement and supply contract for raw materials with Mr. Han Shuming, Governor of Changshou District and Mr. An Qihong, Board Chairman of Chongqing Chemical & Pharmaceutical Holding (Group) Company
