The National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute, formed just over a year ago with the goal of making the U.S. more competitive in the 3D printing (additive manufacturing) arena, has rebranded itself to become America Makes. The announcement was made during a meeting at the headquarters facility in Youngtown, OH, by Bre Pettis, CEO of MakerBot, a global leader in the desktop 3D printing industry, that merged with Stratasys in August of this year.
The rebranding initiative was undertaken as a means to challenge the perception of manufacturing in America. "America Makes is a movement that goes beyond the halls of industry and reaches into the homes of individuals," said a release from the organization. "When America Makes, America works!"
