The Society of Plastics Engineers' annual technical conference (ANTEC 2013) kicked off on April 22, with 1700 people coming through the doors on the opening day. SPE CEO Willem de Vos said at an afternoon press conference that he expects about 2000 attendees when the conference ends on Wednesday, April 24. With 528 peer-reviewed technical papers in 35 topic areas, ANTEC is the largest technical conference in 2013, de Vos noted.
Additionally, this is the first year that the Society of the Plastics Industry (SPI) has co-located with ANTEC for a series of two-day sessions on the SPI Business of Plastics @ ANTEC 2013. The 30+ business sessions focus on key markets for the plastics industry, the economic impact of plastics on the global and U.S. economy, and hiring practices.
