“Idea-to-Mold” helps mold maker, brand owner get bottles to market faster

When the market leader of flavored carbonated soft drinks, Dr Pepper Snapple Group (DPS), came to R&D/Leverage, a Lee's Summit, MO-based supplier of tooling for the global food, beverage, home, personal care and healthcare industries, the Group was looking for a powerful new design for its 20-ounce "Legacy" bottle.

The collaborative effort debuted R&D, Integrated Solutions in Plastics' "idea-to-mold" program. Christopher Yows, business unit manager for Leverage, Integrated Industrial Design, R&D's full-service consumer packaging design company located in the U.K. and in a separate facility at R&D's campus in Missouri, said that the initial assignment began like many new consumer products: with a comprehensive battery of upfront consumer research components....
