Due to its softness, this patented material has been incorporated into the PURE 1.1 Concept Shoe, which recently won the "IF Material Award 2009 from IF International Forum Design in Hannover Messe Industrial Fair and "DESIGN PLUS award from German Design Council. The PURE 1.1 Concept Shoe has also also been exhibited at Chinaplas.
"The global launch of Elastollan Soft at Chinaplas 2010 is a much-anticipated event for manufacturers of consumer products and other industries particularly in China and the rest of Asia Pacific region. Because of its ultra-softness and outstanding mechanical features, Elastollan Soft will add new dimensions of quality to an extensive range of products, including sports goggles, footwear, electronics, door and window profiles and many more, said Dr. Jens Dierssen, Director of Elastollan TPU, BASF Polyurethanes, Asia Pacific.
Equipped with very good mechanical properties, hydrolysis stability, and good transparency, Elastollan Soft can be processed by injection or extrusion which brings new possibilities to applications in many different products.
Elastollan Soft is one of the core materials of the PURE 1.1 Concept Shoe (the lace system and front outsole). The versatility of this material facilitates a greater freedom of design and also provides excellent abrasion resistance, shock absorption and comfort. This product is durable, abrasion-resistant and slip-resistant. These attributes make it ideal for application in the outsoles of occupational shoes to provide better grip properties on wet and even icy grounds.
PURE 1.1 is 100% polyurethane, phthalate free and an environmental friendly product manufactured in compliance with REACH. With its mono-polymer (100% PUR) composition, recycling of this product can be carried out more easily and efficiently.
This innovation is the result of close collaboration between experts of the shoe industry from all over Europe and BASF specialists in the fields of polyurethane systems and thermoplastic polyurethane.
"The cutting-edge features of BASF products featured at Chinaplas 2010 reflect the comprehensive competence, cumulative knowledge and decades of experience that BASF draw on, to achieve greater excellence, in terms of performance, design, choice of material and environmental impact, added Dr. Jens Dierssen, Director of Elastollan TPU, BASF Polyurethanes, Asia Pacific.
